WHERE AND WHEN…

Dordt will host Concordia on Saturday, November 3 at 7:00 in the GPAC quarterfinals.  The match will be available on KDCR 88.5 and online at https://livestream.com/dordtcollegewebcast/volleyball . THE OPPONENT…

Concordia concluded the season with a 15-11 overall record and a 5-11 GPAC mark.  The Bulldogs had conference wins this season over Doane, Morningside, Briar Cliff, Mount Marty and the College of Saint Mary. Concordia lost seven matches in a row from September 11-29 but finished the season with a 3-4 record in its last seven matches. The Bulldogs won two out of their final three matches and pushed Midland to five sets on October 27.

Ben Boldt’s team is averaging 12.53 kills per set with a .206 kill efficiency and the Bulldogs are getting 2.16 points per set on blocks while allowing 12.74 kills and an opponent kill efficiency of .185. Concordia has a 118-92 season ace serve advantage.

Jenna Habegger puts down 3.11 kills per set with a .228 kill efficiency and Emmie Noyd has a 2.69 kill per set average and Kara Stark is putting down 2.4 kills per set. Tara Callahan is good for 6.61 assists per set and Kaci Hohenthaner puts up an average of 4.86 assists per outing. Jenna Marissa Hoerman averages a team high 3.82 digs per set and Jenna Eller is at 2.21 digs with a team high 24 service aces.

THE DEFENDERS…

Dordt has a 24-2 record this fall and stands 16-0 at the conclusion of the GPAC season. Dordt’s last loss was a 3-2 decision at Grand View on September 7.   Dordt’s other loss is a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Rocky Mountain.

Ema Altena leads the team with a 4.05 kill average and she has a .281 kill efficiency while getting to 2.51 digs per set and she has 28 ace serves this year.  Leah Kamp is averaging 2.76 kills per set with a .313 kill efficiency while Ally Krommendyk’s average is 2.24 with a .287 efficiency. Krommendyk hasn’t played since the win over Jamestown on October 9. Jessi De Jager and Julia Lindbergh are good for 1.77 and 2.01 kills per set respectively as Dordt averages 14.01 kills per set and has a team kill efficiency of .254. Lydia Smits has a 1.38 kills per set average.

Jamie De Jager is putting up 10.94 assists per set with 26 aces and 2.32 digs per outing.  She also has a 1.0 kills per set average. Hannah Connelly has 22 ace serves and Aubrey Drake has 17 aces and leads the team in digs with 5.28 per game. Dordt has a 134-90 service ace advantage and scores 2.46 points per set on blocks and opponents get 1.84.  Teams are averaging 9.68 kills against Dordt with a .112 efficiency.

LAST ACTION…

Dordt was a 29-27, 25-11, 25-20 winner over Bellevue on Tuesday night in Bellevue, Nebraska.  Dordt overcame three set point serves to survive set one with a 29-27 win and rolled in set two.  Set three was a tougher tussle with Dordt pulling away at the 15 point mark for their 24th win of the season. Kamp had 14 kills and Altena 13 while Jessi De Jager put down seven. Jamie De Jager had 39 assists and 16 digs while Aubrey Drake led the way with 23 digs.

Concordia was a 25-22, 25-19, 25-22 winner with Stark recording 15 kills and Habegger added 13 while Callahan had 39 assists as Concordia relied on a 5-1 offensive set.  The Bulldogs scored 11 points on blocks and Doane had four and Concordia hit for a .292 kill efficiency while holding the Tigers to .183.

HISTORY…

The Defenders and Bulldogs played once this season with Dordt prevailing 25-10, 27-25, 26-24 on October 13 in Sioux Center.   Concordia was led by Habbegger’s 10 kills and Callahan had 28 assists. Eller and Himmelberg each had eight digs for the Defenders. Dordt was led by Altena with 14 kills and De Jager put up 35 assists. Aubrey Drake recorded 15 digs. Concordia had a 7-6 blocks advantage but Dordt had a 7-5 ace serve edge. Dordt hit for a .279 kill efficiency while Concordia hit .162.

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE….

The winner of this match will play the Midland-Jamestown winner on Wednesday at 7:00. If Dordt prevails the Defenders will host, if Concordia wins the Midland-Jamestown victor will host.

NATIONAL POLL…

Dordt is no. 5 in the October 30 NAIA Coaches’ Poll while Northwestern is no. 9; Midland is no. 11 and Hastings is no. 14. Jamestown is 23rd.
