Sioux Center, Iowa: On Monday, October 1, the Andreas Center and Dordt College will welcome the Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero for the First Monday Speaker Series, at 11 a.m. in the BJ Haan Auditorium. His morning presentation is entitled “Beyond Despair: Lessons from Narnia and the Gospel.” In the evening, Salguero will also present a panel titled “Who is our Neighbor?: Immigration, Justice, and Christian Hospitality.” The evening event will be held in the Science Building (SB 1606) at 7:30 p.m.
Gabriel Salguero is the president and founder of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NALEC). NALEC is a coalition of Hispanic evangelical churches and non-profits committed to Gospel-centered advocacy. He has served on the White House Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships Advisory Council, as well as the board of the National Association of Evangelicals. He is currently a pastor at Calvario City Church, a Latino-led Assemblies of God multicultural church of about 4,000 people in Orlando, Florida.
The First Mondays Speaker Series brings scholars, writers, and cultural leaders to Dordt College to pursue the common good in society and the church. It is designed to enrich the academic experience and promote Dordt's mission: equipping students, alumni, and the broader community to effect Christ-centered renewal in everyday life.
Both events are free and open to the public.
