Dordt Pair Claim NAIA Honor

(Tuesday, March 13; Sioux Center, Iowa) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced that 278 Division II Women’s basketball student-athletes have been named 2018 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Dordt College had two athletes earn the honor.

Kenzie Bousema (Junior; Sheldon, Iowa) and Steffi Cunard (Junior; Missouri Valley, Iowa) each earned the honor for the first time in basketball. Bousema averaged 7.1 points per game in 28 games for the Defenders and is studying Education.  Bousema claimed the same honor for the Dordt women’s soccer team. Cunard played in 16 games for the Defenders and is studying Health and Human Performance. Cunard will graduate in May after three years at Dordt.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
