NAIA Track Championships Results

(Wednesday, February 28; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Athletes in eight events and four relay units will compete for Dordt at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships at Pittsburg, Kansas from March 1-3.

Competition begins on Thursday, March 1 with competition for Joscelyn Wind in the pentathlon. Prelim races and will take place on Thursday and Friday and finals in many events will be on Saturday.

Thursday, March 1 Results

Pentathlon (Joscelyn Wind finishes 9th with 3,171 points)

Women’s 5,000 meters (Audrey Brooks finishes with 2nd fastest time in prelims and qualifies for finals in 17:51.52. Leader had time of 17:51.30)

Men’s 5,000 meters (Caleb Drake advances to finals.  No prelims run)

Women’s 4x800 meters (Sarah Krysl, Jordan Bos, Hailey Pullman, Sarah Van Wyk finish 9th in 9:26.40 and will not run in finals.  Miss finals by less than a second.)

Men’s 4x800 meters (Matthew Van Eps, Gideon De Graaf, Anthony Ghiorso, Riley Schaap run 7:48.07 and will not qualify for finals after missing eighth place by three seconds.)

Men’s 4x400 meters (Lucas Van Eps, Noah Imperial, Keith Heidema, Caleb Herman run 3:19.40 and finish 10th and miss finals by three seconds)

Women’s Distance Medley Relay (Nicole Slater, Kate Wnek, Jenna Stephens, Erica De Schiffart finish 9th in 12:08.37.  Initially ruled 8th place to run in finals but an appeal re-instated a team and bumped Dordt from the finals.)

Men’s Weight Throw (David Davelaar finish 9th with a throw of 18.04 meters and Ike Van Kempen finishes 22nd with a toss of 15.73 meters.)

Women’s Mile (No prelims run. Erica De Schiffart will run in finals on Saturday.)

Women’s 60 meter hurdles (Dani Wubben finishes 14th in 9.12 and will not run in the finals.)

Men’s 60 meter hurdles (Keith Heidema finished 20th in 8.46 and will not run in the finals.)

Saturday, March 3

Women’s Mile (Erica De Schiffart earns NAIA All-American honors with a sixth place finish and a time of 5:01.45. The fifth place time was 4:59.37 and the winning time was 4:37.30)

Women’s 5,000 meters (Audrey Brooks claims NAIA National Champion Runner-Up honors with a time of 17:38.26.  The winning time was 17:21.75.  Brooks earns NAIA All-American honors with her finish.)

Men’s 5,000 meters (Caleb Drake finishes third and claims NAIA All-American honors. Drake ran 14:49.39  while the second place finisher was 14:45.66 and the winning time was 14:43.58.)
