Sioux Center, IA: On February 23, Dordt College will host the 12th annual Prairie Grass Film Challenge Screening and awards ceremony. Begun to promote the visual arts in the three-state region,, the film challenge has since grown considerably, drawing teams from all around the country.
Nearly 50 teams signed up for the challenge. The surprise theme for this year’s competition was, “It all began with a tweet.” Each team was given a tweet, which had to be featured in their film. One tweet , was, “I never thought I’d end my day in jail.” In just 48 hours, teams had to come up with inventive ways to work the tweet into their story, along with a character, prop and assigned genre
The films will be screened in the Science Building on campus on February 23 from 5:45-7:45 p.m. There will be an awards ceremony at 8 p.m. in the BJ Haan Auditorium. The four primary awards will be: Best of High School, Best of College, Best of Post-College, and Best of Show (this last award can come from any of the three age groups).
The event is free, family friendly, and open to the public. For more information, visit www.dordt.edu/filmchallenge.
