Sawtelle To Join Defender Baseball

(Monday, June 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) Nathan Sawtelle, a recent graduate of Heritage Christian Academy, has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender baseball program.
Sawtelle has a career .317 batting average with 45 runs batted in and 47 runs scored in 189 at-bats. He is 12-1 on the mound with a 1.40 earned run average with 70 strikeouts in 83 innings pitched. This season Sawtelle batted .315 with 12 runs batted in and 22 runs scored. He pitched 70 innings this season and had a 1.98 earned run average with an 11-1 record and 59 strikeouts.
Sawtelle was a first-team all-conference pick this season and also took first-team all-section honors while claiming academic all-state accolades. He was part of a Heritage Christian program that finished as section runner-up the last five seasons.
Nathan is the son of Jim and Thelma Sawtelle of Crystal, Minnesota. He plans to study History at Dordt College.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
