Dordt College Women's Basketball vs. Northwestern

(Orange City, Iowa) The Dordt College Lady Defenders couldn't overcome a 29 percent shooting night in dropping a 91-63 Great Plains Athletic Conference decision to the Northwestern Red Raiders.

Northwestern, who entered the game as the number one rated team in the nation, held a 41-27 lead at halftime while holding Dordt to 22 percent shooting.

The Lady Defenders would get no closer than 12 in the second half, losing for the second time this week to a rated team on the road.

Dordt was led by Kristin De Ronde's 17 points, five rebounds and three blocked shots while Shawna Flikkema was good for 11 points an four assists. Kathryn Ferrie added eight points while Lindsey Van Wyk and Kara Karlsgodt both had seven points. Rachel Van Beek led all players with 14 rebounds.

Northwestern was paced by Deb Remmerde's 35 points. The leading scorer in the nation was 10-20 from the floor and 11-11 from the free throw line, running her consecutive free throw makes to 121 in a row. Jaime Hoegh and Tyann Meyer had 13 and 11 points each for the hosts.

Dordt is now 6-7 in conference play.
