Dordt College JV Men's Basketball vs. Northeast Community College

November 30, 2010

(Sioux Center, Iowa) It was another tough night for the Defenders as the JV Men took on Northeast Community College in Tuesday night's matchup at DeWit Gymnasium. Dordt was looking for revenge after Northeast had handed a 87-55 loss to them earlier in the season. Unfortunately for Dordt, the Hawks from Norfolk, NE got ahead early and never looked back as they cruised to victory while Dordt suffers a 53-75 loss. The game started off with a 10-10 tie in the first minutes, but that was as close as Dordt had gotten. Turnovers by the Defenders and the athleticism and scoring ability of the Hawks were too much to handle for Dordt. The Hawks were led by the play of Lakheem Trotter and Dol Kutey. Trotter earned his game-high 16 points in quick bursts, while Kutey quietly scored his 13.

A positive for the Defenders was the way that they spread the scoring. 11 of 13 players scored at least 1 point for Dordt. Nick Wilson, who scored 13 points, 7 coming from free throws, led the scoring for the Defenders. Alex Davelaar and Ben Sytsma added 8 of their own with Davelaar hitting 4-4 on free throws and Sytsma hitting two three's.

In the end, the high-flying Hawks were too big and too quick for the Defenders. Dordt falls to 3-5 on the season.
