More about Marco...

Marco den Toom (b. 1978) studied organ at the Utrecht Conservatory and with Herman van Vliet, Charles de Wolff, Klaas Jan Mulder and Jacques van Oortmerssen. Soon after his professional training, he built up a career as an independent musician. His music is characterized by a quirky but also spontaneous approach. In addition to his love for the organ, and his mission to popularize this instrument, he has managed to develop into a musically versatile musician.

Marco has composed two major oratorios (‘Jesus on earth’ and ‘Joseph’) and many solos for organ (including ‘A Coral Book with the Psalms’ and ‘Toccata Ruisseau’), arranges existing music, records for radio, TV, CD and DVD (often with choirs), and maintains an active recital schedule. He is also conductor of the large choir 'Jubilate Deo' from Woudenberg. Since January 1, 2017, Marco has been co-lecturer and musical ambassador of the large Van den Heuvel organ in the Nieuwe Kerk in Katwijk aan Zee. His solo organ albums include recordings from Kampen (Bovenkerk), The Hague (Evangelical Lutheran Church), Dudelange (Saint-Martin), Kevelaer (Mariabasilika) and Paris (Saint-Eustache).

The Joan Ringerwole Organ Recital Series seeks to promote the organ and its repertoire, for the musical education and enjoyment of students, alumni, and the community, by bringing nationally acclaimed organists to Dordt. Performances are free and open to the public.
