A Concept that Blew My Mind

I never thought that a small Christian college in Northwest Iowa would have such a distinguished alumni network with people who have made such a profound impact for the kingdom of God. In my time at Dordt, I have gotten to meet some of these outstanding people who have inspired me to achieve my biggest goals.

Cool things I did at Dordt

By coming to Dordt, I fulfilled a life-long dream of playing college baseball. The experiences that I have had with my coaches and teammates are memories that I will never forget. As a member of the Defender Capital Management club, I got to see our portfolio of stocks grow from $470,000 to over $830,000 in my four years at Dordt. I was fortunate enough to be president of the club my junior year and the real-world experience that this brought was outstanding.

obstacles I've overcome

During my time at Dordt, I have been pushed to my limit academically, athletically, and spiritually. Despite these challenges, God has been so faithful. I am thankful for my family, professors, coaches, teammates, and friends, who have pushed me to be my best.

Who I was When I came to Dordt

I was so nervous heading off to college at a place halfway across the country. I didn't know what to expect, but I felt like Dordt was the place that God wanted me to be. Looking back, it most definitely was.

How Dordt Impacted Me

Dordt gave me the resources to grow in all facets of my life. My time at Dordt has stretched me to grow in my faith, sharpen my academic skills, harness my athletic ability, and prepare me for what lies ahead.

Where I am Now

I have accepted a job offer with Wells Fargo, working in middle market banking in the food, agriculture, and hospitality industries, and I am also considering graduate school. I am not quite sure where I will be located because of Covid-19, but I am excited to see all that God has in store.

What I would tell prospective students

You will never regret attending a university that has a community like Dordt. You get to build lifelong friendships with your teammates, coaches, professors, and peers; all while pursuing your degree from a Christian worldview. There is no experience quite like it.

How Dordt Helped Me Do More

My experience at Dordt has given me Christian mentors and connections that have exceeded my highest expectations. My professors have given me the opportunity to learn from statisticians in the MLB and given me tremendous connections for internships throughout my four years. The way that professors work with their students to help foster academic understanding from a Christian perspective is something that I am truly grateful for. Dordt has given me lifelong friends and prepared me to make a kingdom impact.
