FAVORITE SPOT ON CAMPUS

Some of my favorite memories were made in West Hall Lodge, the ceramics studio, and my Kuyper Apartment!

FAVORITE CLASS

I have loved a lot of them, but my favorites are: Fundamentals of Social Work, Core 145 and 150, and Vulnerable Populations.

A CONCEPT THAT BLEW MY MIND

The interdisciplinary nature of the Core Program really allowed me to celebrate the opportunity to learn from a variety of sources! Before college, I was very nervous about choosing the right major to lead to the right career path. But through my time at Dordt, I have discovered how to become a life-long learner and to rejoice in the many ways that we can continue to learn and grow throughout our lifetimes.

COOL THINGS I DID AT DORDT

Over the course of my four years, I have flipped thousands of burgers in the Commons, joined the Business Club and traveled to Denver and Chicago, spent a year as an RA, led tours for prospective students, completed the Kuyper Honors Program, served as the Student Government chair, and traveled across the globe to study in Uganda! Each of these have offered unique perspectives of Dordt and I have been so grateful for each step of the way!

WHO I WAS WHEN I CAME TO DORDT

My first semester at Dordt, I kept mostly to myself and really only spent time sleeping, working, and studying. But as time went on, I was able to learn how to balance my priorities and make time for building relationships. Though I never would have categorized myself as shy, I am now much more engaged and have been blessed with opportunities in social leadership including Residence Life and Student Government!

HOW DORDT IMPACTED ME

My time at Dordt has been instrumental in my academic and spiritual development over the past four years. I have been presented with opportunities that stretched me beyond my comfort zone and into an unknown place of fully trusting in the Lord's plan. My time at Dordt has developed my skillset of communication, teamwork, humility, and dedication. I am so grateful to continue to build from this foundation toward a greater likeness of my Lord and Savior.

WHERE I AM NOW

I am actually planning on taking a gap year and working on a dude ranch in the blessed mountains of Colorado! Who knows what will come immediately after. but I hope that each new opportunity will be as exciting as this one.

WHAT I WOULD TELL PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Sometimes making the decision of where to go can feel like the hardest choice you ever have to make. And though I have thoroughly enjoyed every year at Dordt, I still had to choose to participate. Dordt offers a lot of opportunities, but you have to be bold! Boldness looks different for us all, but investing time and energy in the community at Dordt will be an investment worth making!

HOW DORDT HELPED ME DO MORE

I really cannot iterate enough how grateful I am for my four years at Dordt. Through Student Government I was able to provide input into the further development of Dordt's campus and curriculum. As an RA, I was able to build meaningful relationships that reminded me of the value of true community. During my study abroad experience, I was able to participate in experiential learning that challenged me to greater presence and intentionality. Each opportunity has been a call to courage, one that challenges me to trust the Lord in the process and to Do More...all to his glory.
