A CONCEPT THAT BLEW MY MIND

The idea that a small private Christian college has the ability to have new cadavers from the University of Iowa every year that the students dissect rather than just looking at them is crazy. It’s one thing to look at a textbook and see a picture of a muscle, it’s another to find it yourself and ask, “what is this?”

COOL THINGS I DID AT DORDT

Being the first women’s basketball team to make it to the NAIA national tournament was an incredible experience! To play at such a high level with my best friends was a blast.

OBSTACLES I'VE OVERCOME

Coming from a city to small town Iowa was a bit of a shock to my system. The homesickness is normal, but the culture at Dordt allowed me to work through it and GROW! Going into junior year, I didn’t know who to live with. Through mutual friends I found roommates and although I didn’t know them at first, they are now my best friends. This is not uncommon at Dordt.

WHO I WAS WHEN I CAME TO DORDT

I was optimistic, but nervous. I loved my hometown but was excited to experience Dordt. To be honest I was a bit awkward, unsure, and still a bit dependent on my parents. Leaving Dordt I feel as though I could talk to anyone, set my own goals to achieve, and am independent.

HOW DORDT IMPACTED ME

It’s changed me emotionally and spiritually for the better.

Dordt has given me the platform and tools to grow. As a student my professors have given me countless opportunities to ask questions, learn more, and discover what my passions are. I have had the opportunity to grow in my faith to make it my own, independent relationship with Christ.

WHERE I AM NOW

I’m applying to physician assistant school this summer and I feel VERY prepared. Dordt has a great reputation among PA schools so I know having Dordt on my resume will be a big plus.

WHAT I WOULD TELL PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

Dordt will give you the opportunity to grow and excel in every aspect of life: career, emotional, and spiritual growth.

HOW DORDT HELPED ME DO MORE

The had the opportunity to make an impact on this community in every aspect of my life. I have loved the opportunities not only to grow in my own faith and career but also give back to the community through basketball service activities or events with the biology club.

Dordt gave me the opportunity to lead tours to prospective students which weirdly ministered to me more than them. I loved getting to give advice, get to know, and share all of my love for Dordt! I also enjoyed praying for their college decision experience.
