Either Histology or Biblical Studies Methods.
A Concept That Blew My Mind
In Biblical Studies Methods, one of our assignments was to do an exegesis of the book of Jonah in the Old Testament. As we went through it together in class, the professor made the point that many people view Jonah surviving in the belly of a fish for three days as the biggest miracle in the book, when in reality, the biggest miracle that took place was the Ninevites repenting.
Cool Things I Did At Dordt
I was able to attend a lot of cool conferences with other Dordt students, one of which was a medical missions conference in Louisville, Kentucky. The summer after my junior year, I had the opportunity to go to India for a month and volunteered in a home for individuals with special needs. I also had the opportunity to spend a semester shadowing the Occupational Therapists at Sioux Center Health for course credits. On campus, I was involved in Bible Studies and participated in lots of intramurals.
Obstacles I've Overcome
Any chemistry class I had to take--shout out to all the amazing professors and classmates!
What's Next For Me
I will be going to the University of South Dakota to get my doctorate of Occupational Therapy, and we will see where the Lord takes me from there.
What I Would Tell Prospective Students
Go out of your way to meet new people and to get involved with the variety of things going on around campus. There are so many great people and different activities to get involved in. You definitely will not regret it.
How Dordt Helped Me Do More
It is hard to find words to describe all the ways in which the Lord has used my last four years at Dordt to mold and shape me. Probably the biggest role Dordt has played was by providing an environment that has supplemented my faith, allowing me to wrestle with tough questions, be pushed outside my comfort zone, and surrounded by people who are so eager and willing to walk beside along the way. Growing in this way has truly transformed how I view everything else: my goals in life, the type of friend that I am, the type of Occupational Therapist I want to be, and who I am as a disciple of Christ.
