THE MEET

Dordt University finished fourth at the Hastings Spring Invite, a two-day, 36-hole meet that concluded today at the Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Neb.

In fourth place after Monday's first round played on the same venue, the Defenders tied for the third lowest round on day two (367) to finish in fourth place overall out of seven teams. Dordt's two-day total, 727, is its lowest 36-hole score of the spring. They finished just three shots in back of third place and host institution, Hastings.

Mount Marty won the team championship in a tie-break against Concordia, who held a seven-stroke lead after Monday's first round. The Lancers carded the low round today (356) and equaled the Bulldogs 36-hole score of 709.

Kerri Kroeze finished as the top Defenders golfer, tying for sixth place with a 176. Kroeze shot an 86 today, the fourth lowest 18-hole score on day two. This was the first top-10 finish by the freshman this season. 

Libby Douma finished in a tie for 15th place, matching her best finish of the season, with a 36-hole total of 182 (83/99). Gianna Van Klaveren carded an 88 in today's round and finished 17th overall (183). Olivia Olson (19th - 191) and Bailey Weg (T20 - 192) round out the Dordt scores.

Kendra Placke of Concordia was the individual medalist with a 159 (77 / 82).

The Defenders will co-host a two-day meet, the Siouxland Spring Invitational, early next week (April 18-19). Monday's first round will be held at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, hosted by Northwestern, while Tuesday's second 18-holes will be played on Tuesday at The Ridge.
