HOW IT HAPPENED

An 11 run second inning was too much for the Dordt Defender baseball team to overcome in GPAC baseball against Morningside on Friday afternoon in Sioux City. Dordt ended up losing 17-4 and fell to 7-9 in league play with a pair of losses to the Mustangs.

Dordt got on the board with Logan Cline scoring on an Anthony Klinzing fielder’s choice. Cline had reached initially with a walk and Luke November’s single got him in scoring position.

Morningside answered with a pair of runs in the home half of the first and then added the 11 run second with seven hits and four bases on balls issued in the frame. Dordt got two back in the third when Cline doubled and scored on a Brock Spade double and Nolan Christianson scored later in the inning on a passed ball.

Morningside tacked on four more in the fourth and Dordt’s final run came in the seventh when Anthony Klinzing walked with the bases loaded to force in Logan Cline.  Cline doubled with two outs to get the inning going but Dordt left the bases loaded in the seventh as the game came to an end.
