Doane def. Dordt 10-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
An error filled game two of the doubleheader with Doane proved to be too much for the Defenders to overcome as they lost a 10-0 decision to the Tigers in Crete on Friday.
Doane got seven unearned runs in the game to secure the sweep. Four unearned runs came in the second inning when the Defenders were charged with four errors. The hosts added run in the third, two in the fourth and three more in the seventh.
Dordt loaded the bases in the seventh inning for its best scoring chance but couldn’t get a hit with two outs.
Doane had a 5-2 hits advantage.
Aaron Eshelman’s double and Anthony Klinzing’s single accounted for Dordt’s two hits.
Dylan Stanley had two walks.
Willem Hoekstra took the loss and was charged with six runs—one of them earned and he struck out two.
Dordt is now 4-6 in the league and 6-18 overall while Doane is 21-5 overall and 10-0 in league play.
Dordt will host Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
