SCORE

Midland def. Dordt 12-0

HOW IT HAPPENED

After earning a shutout win in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, Dordt fell to Midland to finish the day with a split.

Logan Horne pitched three shutout innings to begin the game, also working out of having two runners in scoring position in the 2nd. Midland broke through in the 4th, however, as Bakari Gayle hit a 2-RBI single, one of his three hits on the day. Then, with the score 3-0, Kyle Weber hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring in the runner from third.

Dordt found themselves with a runner on second in the bottom of the 5th, looking to cut into their deficit. Oliver Walczak hit a single to the right field fence and then advanced on a wild pitch. Midland's Luke Hamzeh worked out of trouble on the mound to keep the Defenders scoreless.

The Warriors broke the game open in the 7th, scoring seven runs on four hits and three errors in the inning.

It was the 16th win of the year for Midland, who moved their record to 16-3. Dordt ends the weekend with a record of 5-14.
