Dordt def. Lawrence Tech 11-9


The Dordt Defenders used a six run second inning and then held on as Lawrence Tech’s comeback effort came up short in the second game of two played between the schools on Tuesday, March 8.

Lawrence Tech scored a pair in the first inning but Dordt responded with six in the home half of the second. Logan Cline and Nolan Christianson produced one and two runs batted in respectively with singles and Anthony Klinzing had a double that knocked in two. JaeYoun Kim also plated a run with a fielder’s choice to make it 6-2.

Dylan Stanley added to the lead with a single in the fourth that got a run across but Lawrence Tech answered with five of their own in the fifth inning to tie the game at 7-7.

Cline and Klinzing added a double and single that each scored a run in the fifth inning but Lawrence Tech made it 9-8 with a run in the top of the sixth.

Again Dordt answered with JaeYoun Kim scoring on a balk and Logan De Vries scored on an error in the sixth inning to give Dordt two insurance runs and put them up 11-8.


Dordt used six pitchers in the game with Kevin Fokkema starting the game and he struck out three.

Cline had a four hit game with two runs batted in on three singles and a double.

Klinzing had three runs batted in with a double and aa single and Nolan Christanson and Dylan Stanley each had two hits with Christianson knocking in two runs.

Mike Bruell got the win in relief and was the pitcher of record when Dordt took its last lead.  Michael Ohlin got the save after going two innings and struck out two with three hits allowed.

Dordt is now 3-9 and will be off on Wednesday before resuming play on Thursday against Judson in a doubleheader.
