HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender baseball team was on the short end of a 7-4 decision in game one of their doubleheader with Lawrence Tech on Tuesday in Florida.
Dordt got a run in the first inning when JaeYoun Kim had a sacrifice line drive that scored Logan Cline after Cilne initially singled to open the frame. The Defenders missed out on a bigger inning when they left two runners on. Cline had a solo homerun in the third inning for a 2-0 lead but Lawrence Tech finally formulated an answer in the fifth inning.
In the frame the Blue Devils scored five runs on four hits and then tacked on two more in the fifth inning for a 7-2 lead. The Defenders got two back in the seventh inning with Christanson belting a single and Dylan Stanley scored on an Aaron Eshelman ground out for the 7-4 final.
THE NUMBERS
Dordt had a 10-6 hits advantage with Cline going 3-4 with two runs scored with a pair of singles and a homerun.
Luke November was 3-4 with three singles and Nolan Christianson had two singles.
Nick Yeager started the game and went three innings and struck out six. Carter Scott pitched the final inning and two-thirds and struck out one and didn’t allow a hit.
