HOW IT HAPPENED

Karli Olsen drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the 6th on the way to a 1-0 win in Kissimmee, Florida.

The story of today's game was found in the pitching matchup, as Abby Kraemer struck out 10 and Bellevue's Cory Carrillo did not allow a hit until the 6th inning.

The Defenders put up the first run of the game, which was preceded by a one-out single by Jessica Oules, who then advanced on a fielding error. Kenzie Cunard followed, hitting a drive to right field on the first pitch. With runners at the corners, Olsen hit the ball through to right center, allowing Oules to score and helping Dordt take the lead.

Kraemer struck out two of the final three batters to end the game, 1-0.

COACH JEFF ZOMER SAID

It’s been good to get our feet back on dirt here in Florida. Bellevue had a leadoff double and Abby Kraemer was able to pitch around that.  From there you knew it was going to be a pitcher’s duel. Bellevue’s pitcher had us no-hit going into the sixth inning and we needed someone to break that up.  Jessica Oules looped one into rightfield and then we scratched out three hits that inning and got a run across.  It was a great game by both teams.
