Dordt def. Northwestern Ohio 7-5


The Dordt Defender softball team was a 7-5 winner over Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon in five innings. The game was stopped due to rain in the sixth inning with the Defenders in control.  The later game was called off.

Dordt scored two in the second inning without a hit or error as a hit batsman, wild pitch and fielder’s choice gave Dordt a pair. Dordt added two more in the third inning with Jessica Flaherty doubling in two runs and she eventually scored on an error.

Northwestern Ohio got one run back in the third but left the bases loaded and then got another run in the fourth but stranded two runners. Aurora Tyson plated another run for Dordt in the fourth and Karli Olsen scored on a wild pitch to go up 7-2.

Northwestern Ohio threatened but ended up coming up two runs short with three runs in the fifth inning for what turned out to be the final of 7-5.


Dordt was outhit 10-6 and both teams committed two errors.

Jessica Flaherty had two hits and two runs scored with two runs batted in and was the only Defender wit a multi-hit day.

Kenzie Cunard had a double for the Defenders and along with Flaherty produced Dordt’s two extra base hits.  

Taylor Knaack allowed five runs on 10 hits and walked three in earning the pitching win with two strikeouts.


Dordt will play two games on Thursday.
