SCORE

Minnesota-Crookston def. Dordt 7-3

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dordt and Minnesota-Crookston played in the final game at the dome in Aberdeen, as the Golden Eagles used a five-run first inning to build up their lead.

Crookston opened their half of the first with back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 2-0 with no outs. The Eagles then used a double-steal to extend their lead to three. A two-run home run followed, making the score 5-0.

With the score 6-0 in the top of the 4th, Karli Olsen hit a leadoff single into center field to get on base. Emma Groen was next to the plate, hitting a two-run home run to center, helping Dordt cut into the lead. Crookston responded in the next inning by sending in their runner from third to score on a base hit.

Neither team compiled offense through the next two innings until Dordt's Emma Brown singled in the bottom of the 7th and later advanced on a wild pitch. Jessica Oules moved her over to third and Kenzie Cunard sent Brown across home plate on a single to left field. The Defenders left two runners in scoring position as their two-out rally attempt was stifled by the Golden Eagles.
