Mount Marty Invite
Dordt University claimed the team championship at the Mount Marty Invite held today at the Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton, S.D.
The Defenders totaled 33 points and won for their second time this season. They finished 43 points ahead of No.13 Concordia (76) and 71 in front of third place Northwestern.
Jessica Kampman won the individual title with a season-best 5K time of 18:40, 10 seconds faster than second place Jo McKibben (Morningside). Today's win was the second for Kampman and her fourth top 10 finish this season.
Dordt put four runners in the top 10 and six among the top 15 placers. Joining Kampman in the top 10 was senior Eden Winslow who ran a season best time of 18:58. Margaret Myskowski (8th - 19:11) and Taylor Anema (9th - 19:13) both ran season bests and recorded their second top 10 finish.
Anika Homan returned to competition and placed 11th with a 5K time of 19:24. Alexa Veldhuisen ran a personal best time (19:27) for the second consecutive week and placed 13th overall.
"Our ladies had their best race of the year to earn the win today," said Head Coach Nate Wolf. "Nearly the entire roster raced to season and/or career best performances. The pack of Eden Winslow, Margaret Myskowski, Taylor Anema, Anika Homan, Alexa Veldhuisen, Bethany Ten Haken, and Lucy Burkowski ran incredibly well keeping the gap to individual champion, Jessica Kampman, to less than 60 seconds. We look forward to the work we get to put in this week as we start to prepare for the GPAC Championships on November 6."
