Dordt def. Kansas 7-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt secured a weekend sweep against Kansas on Saturday, defeating the Jayhawks on the road.
Kansas was the first to score as Aiden Mathy made a goal to give Kansas the early 1-0 lead. Dordt answered back at the eight-minute mark of the first period when Noah Wilmes scored an unassisted goal, knotting the score at 1-1.
The Defenders then scored four goals in the second period, first by Jacob Petrie. Kyle Espenson and Collin O'Brien both added goals, and Noah Wilmes scored his second goal of the game with less than two minutes in the period, giving Dordt a 5-1 lead after two.
Dordt kept the Jayhawks off the board in the final period and added two goals of their own with Alex Espenson scoring off of Sam DeJong's and Kyle Laarman's assists. Eli Visscher scored a powerplay goal in the final minute of play.
