Dordt def. Rocky Mountain 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-17)
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was an evenly-matched contest early on in Saturday's match, but the Dordt Defenders completed the sweep against Rocky Mountain to close out the nonconference season.
The Defenders held a 13-9 lead halfway through the first set and eventually increased their advantage to 20-14 on a kill from Alli Timmermans. Rocky Mountain got the next three points back, but Dordt held on to take set one 25-22.
Set two was close all the way through as neither team was able to gain ground. With the set tied at 15, Dordt scored five of the next six points to take a 20-16 lead. Rocky Mountain then fought their way back into the lead 24-23, forcing a Dordt timeout. The Defenders then took the final three points on two attack errors and a kill from Corrina Timmermans.
Set three was controlled by the Defenders, who took an 11-6 lead on Jessi Franken's kill. Although Rocky Mountain found their way back within a point, Dordt went on an 8-0 run to go up 20-11. The Bears made one final comeback attempt, but it was not enough as the Defenders ended the match on a 5-0 run.
Dordt had a hitting percentage of .232 compared to .143 for Rocky Mountain

Campbell Marshall finished with 19 assists and Megan Raszler added 13
Corrina Timmermans led the team in kills with 16
The Defenders had a total of 11 service aces

The adjustments we made throughout this match showed our adaptability to different offensive and defensive systems. We will set our sights on each conference opponent as we aim to continue all areas of growth this season."
The Defenders will travel to play Jamestown on Wednesday, September 15. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM in Jamestown, ND
