HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defenders traveled to Sioux City, Iowa for both their season and GPAC opener on Wednesday night, August 25 and earned a sweep win over the Morningside Mustangs.

Set two was all Dordt as they built a 23-14 lead before settling for a 25-16 win with the final two points coming on a pair of Morningside attack errors.

The Mustangs grabbed an early 3-0 lead in set three but Dordt rallied to eventually tie it at 4-4 on a Langemeier block and Brenna Krommendyk, who was held to three kills in the first two sets, erupted for three straight kills to unlock a 13-13 tie and the junior middle blocker ended with seven kills in the set as Dordt held on to win 25-22.

COACH CHAD HANSON SAID

"We entered this match with many unknowns on our side of the net as this was our first contest of the season. I’m pleased with so many aspects of our game tonight as we really continued to improve in our offense and defense through the duration of the match. We look forward to growing in our relationships together as each match arises. A trip to the College of Idaho is now where we funnel our efforts and energy….hoping Defender Nation will be able to join us in Caldwell, Idaho for a couple of days."

NEXT
