The Dordt University men's soccer team dropped its conference opener to Briar Cliff 1-0 in a match played this afternoon at Faber Field in Sioux City, Iowa.
Dordt is now 0-5-2 this season; Briar Cliff improves to 2-0 in league play and evens its overall mark to 4-4.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Dordt tied the match on a goal scored by Phil Appelt with five minutes gone by in the second half.
Still tied with just over 20 minutes left, Briar Cliff scored the game-winner on a goal from Sebastian Justiniano off an assist by Jacob Harvey.
The Chargers Bernardo Torres put the hosts in front with an unassisted goal at the 19-minute mark of the first half.
Dordt goalkeeper Brandon Hansen made a season-high 12 saves, his third 10+ save match of the season.
