Midland def. Dordt 1-0

HOW IT HAPPENED

Dordt and Midland faced off in their first meeting of the season. In a game where both teams had opportunities throughout, Midland capitalized on a first-half opportunity to win by a narrow margin.

Nearly 30 minutes into the game, Dordt's Sarah Miller took a shot attempt that hit the crossbar. Minutes later, Katherine Kooiman and Avril Baccam each had shot attempts that went high of the net. Sydney Herren scored the first and only goal of the game with less than two minutes to go in the first half, giving Midland a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The Defenders kept possession on their end of the field in the last 10 minutes, attempting four shots during that time period. Katherine Kooiman's attempt nearly snuck into the corner of the net, but Midland held on for the win.
