  • Dordt lost to College of Saint Mary, 3-1

The Dordt University women's soccer team came lost their second consecutive match, falling to College of Saint Mary 3-1 this afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. 

The Defenders are now 0-2 in conference play, 5-3 overall; College of Saint Mary improves its record to 2-0 in the conference, 4-2-1 overall. 

Dordt broke through first as Ellie Stuart received a pass from Hannah Glynn and drove the ball past the Flames goalkeeper a mere four minutes into the match.

Both teams had scoring chances over the next 20-25 minutes but Dordt goalkeeper Jenna Wright and Flames goalie Gabby Felker made some highlight reel saves to keep the score 1-0.

College of Saint Mary tied the match during the 41st minute when Cloey Allgood scored off an assist by Katie Harold. The match was tied 1-1 at half.

The Flames scored the game winner on an unassisted goal from Abbey Wilson during the 58th minute. Wilson gave her team an insurance goal late, during the 84th minute, to make the final score 3-1.

By the numbers...Both teams accounted for nine shots on goal; the Defenders were led by Stuart with three and both Natalie Cohoon and Jori Bronner totaled two each. 

Wright made six saves in the full 90 minutes.
