Bellevue def. Dordt 3-2

DETAILS

The Dordt softball team lost to Bellevue in a well-pitched game for both teams. Neither team broke over two hits through the first four innings, until Dordt strung together a series of hits to score their first run of the game. Jessica Flaherty advanced to third base after Jessica Oules singled to right field and an error from Bellevue put two Defenders in scoring position. Flaherty scored on Hannah Sikkema's single to left field. After Sikkema stole second base on the next at-bat, Bellevue's Savannah Gunn worked her way out of a difficult inning.

Bellevue took the lead in the bottom of the 5th as Ashley Young drove in the runner from second to tie the game at 1. Lauren Russell hit a double to center to break the tie and give Bellevue a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the 6th, Dordt found themselves down by one before a one-out double from Erin Bredemus scored Chandler Schemper from second to tie the game. Bellevue once again controlled the damage, leaving a Dordt runner at third to end the inning.
