Jamestown def. Dordt 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-23)

The Dordt Defender men’s volleyball team closed its regular season with a 3-0 loss to no. 4 ranked Jamestown in non-conference action Friday night in Sioux Center.

The Defenders struggled to match Jamestown at the net in sets one and two and fell behind in set three 18-15.  The Defenders didn’t let the lead grow any bigger and after trailing 21-18 scored three in a row on a kill by Caleb Kulesza, followed by a kill by the sophomore from Chicago and Luke Nelson tied it 21-21 with a kill.

The teams traded points to a 22-22 tie but back to back points by the Jimmies put them in the driver’s seat and the visitors held on 25-23.

Dordt was led by Andres Guzman’s 12 kills and he also had four digs.

Caleb Kulesza had eight kills and an ace with five digs and Luke Nelson was in on three block assists.

Zach Wood had three solo blocks.

Boris Le and Jeremy Van Belle had 12 and 10 assists each.

Jamestown had a 44-25 kills advantage and had a 3-1 service ace edge.

Dordt is 7-10 while Jamestown improved to 18-2.

Dordt will play in the semifinal round of the GPAC tournament in two weeks.
