Dordt def. Jamestown 9-6 (8 innings)
Dordt staged a late comeback and won a 9-6 decision from Jamestown in non-conference softball played in Aberdeen, South Dakota on Friday morning, February 12.
Dordt scored three runs in the first inning on a pair of homeruns by Rachel Evavold and Erin Bredemus.
Jamestown came back with three in the second inning and added three more in the top of the fourth on three hits.
Dordt’s comeback began with a Chandler Schemper single that scored Evavold in the top of the fifth inning.
Dordt added a run in the sixth on an error and tied it in the seventh on an Emma Veenstra double that scored Jessica Flaherty.
An Erin Bredemus double in the top of the eighth scored two of Dordt’s three runs and Dordt worked out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the eighth to preserve the win.
Bredemus was a triple shy of the cycle with three runs batted in while going 3-4 at the plate.
Jessica Oules, Kenzie Cunard, Rachel Evavold and Chandler Schemper all had two hits and Evavold had two runs batted in and scored twice. Cunard also scored twice and Ivy Terpstra scored two runs.
Becky Pedersen pitched five innings and allowed six runs on 11 hits with four strikeouts.
Taylor Knaack pitched three innings and allowed two hits with one walk and didn’t allow a hit. Knaack was the winning pitcher.
