Jamestown def. Dordt 8-6
Dordt opened the game with a single by leadoff hitter Kenzie Cunard, and after Cunard stole second base, Rachel Evavold hit an RBI single to center field for the Defenders' first run of the game. In the next at-bat, Hannah Sikkema reached, and a defensive error allowed Evavold to come around to score, giving Dordt a 2-0 lead after their first at-bats.
Jamestown answered with a home run in the bottom of the 1st for Morgan Geiszler, putting the Jimmies on the board, their only run of the inning.
In the bottom of the 2nd with two runners in scoring position, Jamestown tied the game as Lauren Diemert hit a shallow single that scored the runner from third.
In the top of the 3rd, Evavold hit a leadoff single as was advanced on Erin Bredemus's sacrifice bunt. Brooklyn Van Oort then singled to left, scoring Evavold and allowing Dordt to take back the lead. With Van Oort on first, Hailey Heeringa hit an RBI double to deep right-center.
Jamestown tied the game again on a 2-run home run by Sydney Prussia, making the score 4-4 after three innings of play.
In the next inning, Dordt scored 1 run on a sacrifice fly from Evavold, scoring Karli Olsen. Jamestown then added 4 runs to their total, taking an 8-5 lead.
The Defenders scored one more run in the top of the 6th, but Jamestown held onto the lead for an 8-6 win.
Rachel Evavold was 3-3 with three runs batted in and Hailey Heeringa was 3-3 with one run batted in.
Brooklyn Van Oort was 2-3 with a run scored as Dordt was outhit 13-10.
Evavold took the pitching loss and struck out three in seven innings.
Dordt will host Hastings in a doubleheader on Friday, April 16. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Open Space Park
