Dordt def. Midland 6-5
The Dordt Defenders held Midland scoreless over the final four innings and won a 6-5 decision over the Warriors in game one of their doubleheader on Saturday.
Dordt scored three in the third to take the lead as Logan Cline singled in a run and Chase Edwards had a sacrifice fly. Nick Hamilton’s ground out scored Cline from third and gave Dordt a 4-3 lead.
Midland got two runs on two hits in the third inning to regain the lead but Dordt answered in the fifth with a two run inning as Edwards slugged a two-run homerun.
Midland mustered just one hit the rest of the game and left runners on first and second in the seventh inning.
Willem Hoekstra got the pitching win while allowing one hit over the final four innings and struck out two.
Edwards had three runs batted in with a double and homerun.
Cline and Hamilton each had runs batted in and Lucas Nelson had a solo homerun in the Dordt second to start the scoring.
