Dordt def. Mount Marty 13-8
Dordt got a strong outing from Gyeongju Kim and put up eight runs in the first three innings on the way to a 13-8 victory at Mount Marty to get a split of the GPAC doubleheader in Yankton, South Dakota.
Dordt scored three runs on three hits in the first inning and added three more on two hits in the second inning with Austin Pullar doubling for the second time in the game and he later came in to score. Two more runs on three hits in the third inning put the Defenders up 8-0.
Mount Marty got two in the fourth but Dordt answered with two in the fifth on three hits with Pullar knocking his third double of the game and Logan Cline followed with a two-run homerun.
Mount Marty managed two in the eighth but Dordt got three in the ninth and then held on as Mount Marty plated four in the bottom of the ninth to make the final 13-8.
Dordt had a 14-12 hits advantage and Austin Pullar was 4-5 at the plate with three doubles and a single and he scored five runs.
Logan Cline knocked in four runs and was a triple shy of the cycle while going 3-4 at the plate.
John Emerson was 2-5 with three runs batted in and Andrew Pullar was 2-4 with three runs.
Kim struck out eight and walked two while surrendering seven hits in six innings of work for his fifth win of the season.
Isaac Buteyn worked a scoreless seventh while Jadon Vander Molen and Caleb Pollema each worked a frame to finish off the game.
Dordt is 13-27 overall and 6-16 in the GPAC while Mount Marty is now 24-15 overall and 12-9 in the league.
The teams will play again on Saturday in Yankton starting at 1:00.
