Mount Marty def. Dordt 3-1
The Dordt Defender baseball team a 3-1 decision in game one of its doubleheader with Mount Marty on Friday afternoon in Yankton, South Dakota.
The Lancers scored a run on two hits in the first inning and Dordt evened it with a run in the third as Nick Hamilton knocked in Andrew Pullar with a single. Dordt left two batters stranded in the inning.
Mount Marty then broke the deadlock with two runs on a hit in the bottom of the fourth inning on a homerun that stood up the rest of the way.
Dordt threatened and loaded the bases in the third but didn’t get the timely hit and the Defenders had two runners on in the sixth and another in the seventh but the rally attempts were squashed on each occasion.
Chase Edwards was 3-4 with a double and two singles.
Andrew Pullar was 3-3 with a run scored and Logan Cline was 2-3 with a bases on balls.
Logan Horne pitched four and a third innings and was charged with three runs—two of them earned and Isaac Vander Hart pitched the final inning and two-thirds and struck out one without surrendering a hit.
