Briar Cliff def. Dordt 7-5
Briar Cliff played from in front in game two of its doubleheader with Dordt and secured a 7-5 win after scoring six in the bottom of the first.
The hosts scored six runs on five hits with an error in the first inning and Dordt was playing catch up the rest of the game.
Chase Edwards singled in the second inning and scored on a Lucas Nelson double to make it 6-1 and Logan Cline doubled in Charlie Hennessy in the third inning.
The Chargers tacked on another run in the top of the third and the score remained 7-1 until a two run fifth for Dordt got the Defenders within 7-4. Chase Edwards doubled in Austin Pullar in the seventh inning to make it 7-5. The Defenders missed out on a bigger frame when they left two runners stranded. Both teams had just one base runner on in the next two innings and the game ended 7-5.
Dordt outhit Briar Cliff 10-8. Chase Edwards was 2-5 with a single and a double. Lucas Nelson was 2-4 with a single and double.
Logan Cline became the single season record holder with his 25th stolen base this season and he had a double and two runs batted in.
Willem Hoekstra came on in relief and was charged with an unearned run in seven and a third innings of work and he struck out three with two walks. Luke Turner started the game and took the loss.
Dordt is now 11-25 and will host Hastings on Saturday, April 17.
