Briar Cliff def. Dordt 6-2
Dordt scored a run in the first inning but Briar Cliff scored four in the home half of the first and another pair in the second to take control and win 6-2 over Dordt in Sioux City on Friday afternoon.
Dordt’s run in the first came after Austin Pullar doubled to lead off the inning and Chase Edwards singled him in with two outs. Briar Cliff scored their four in the first on four hits and tacked on the two in the second on a pair of hits and left the bases loaded.
The Defenders made it 6-2 after a fourth inning run with Edwards doubling and he later scored on a ground out.
Briar Cliff had just three base runners the rest of the game while Dordt had two over the final three innings.
Austin Pullar and Chase Edwards each had two hits with a single and double each. Brock Spade had Dordt’s other hit.
Isaac Vander Hart was effective in relief and pitched five innings and walked two with two strikeouts and allowed five hits. Logan Horne started the game and took the loss.
