Recap

The Dordt Defender men's track and field team sent a large contingent to the Drake Relays and those athletes completed action on Saturday morning, April 24.  

Dordt got an invidual champion performance by Matthew Van Eps in the 800 meters where he clocked a 1:50.14   to win the title.  To cap the day the 4x400 team of Micah Brands, Payton Mauldin, Cole Zevenbergen and Van Eps narrowly missed Dordt's second relay title of the weekend with a 3:16.94 where they closed a 1.5 second gap in the final 400 meters of their but ran out of track and got nipped by .01 of a second. The team ended up in fifth overall.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Kyle Baumert, Josh de Jong, Justin Groen, Joshua Van Hulzen also turned in a silver winning performance in 1:02.37.

Next competition will Friday and Saturday, April 30 and May 1 at the GPAC Championship in Seward, Nebraska.
