Dordt def. Presentation 4-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt opened with a series of quick shots from Blake Hansen and Asher Brown, both which were saved by Presentation's Jack Murray. The following attempt from Hansen went high before Presentation took a chance on goal. Paul Woods took an attempt that was blocked by Dordt's CJ Schulz. Shortly after, Liam Putman's shot was stopped by Defender goalkeeper Brandon Hansen. The Defenders did not allow another shot in the following 30 minutes, as a defensive battle kept the score knotted at 0-0 at the half.
The Defenders were able to break the game open with a goal from Luke Foster eight minutes in, his second of the season. Presentation found themselves taking many attempts on the offensive end, but none were able to hit the mark before Matt Alsum extended the Defender lead to two goals.
The Saints answered moments later to cut the lead in half with a goal by Johnathan Hopkins. However, Dordt would not look back as Blake Hansen padded the lead off of the pass by Nathan Wanninger. With under three minutes to go, the Defenders took a 4-1 lead as a result of an own goal.
Dordt held a 15-9 advantage on shot attempts
Blake Hansen scored his 3rd goal of the season
Dordt is 1st in the NAIA in total saves (55) and 6th in saves per game (9.17)
COACH GRESSE SAID
"I'm really proud of the guys. They competed for every opportunity with intensity today. There's still room for growth and improvement, but it's great to get our first conference win of the year. This will build confidence going forward into the second half of the season."
