Briar Cliff def. Dordt 1-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders found themselves in another close, low-scoring game as conference play opened under the lights at Open Space Park. Briar Cliff opened the game with a high volume of shots, providing plenty of save opportunities for goalkeeper Brandon Hansen. The visitors closed the first half with one more scoring chance in the last minute, but Vincius Gregorio's shot went over the net.
As the game continued to move along, the play became more physical, leading to a series of fouls. Dordt had 5 second half fouls while Briar Cliff had 7. One foul, a red card on the Defenders, gave the Chargers an opportunity for a penalty kick. Joao Pedro Lima's attempt went into the back of the net to give Briar Cliff the lead with 7:58 remaining. Dordt was unable to put together an offensive run to even the score and fell to an 0-3 record on the season.
