Dordt and Doane tied 1-1

HOW IT HAPPENED

Tonight's low-scoring game led to a double overtime contest where the Defenders and the Tigers scored one goal each. Dordt controlled the ball for a majority of the game, attempting 13 more shots than Doane. In the first half, the Defenders took the lead nearly 20 minutes in as senior midfielder Alaina Van Zalen scored her 7th goal of the game with the assist from Maddie Regnerus. With three minutes remaining until the half, Doane sophomore Michaela Thompson scored a goal to tie the game at 1-1 heading into halftime.

The second half held a similar pace to the first, in which Dordt held a significant advantage in shots. However, the 13-3 second half attempts did not lead to a goal, sending the game into overtime. After two scoreless overtime periods, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
