Dordt def. Dakota Wesleyan 2-0
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half was controlled by the Defenders, as a strong wind toward their goal helped them maintain control of the ball through much of the period. Dordt used a series of early shots to find the net after 11 minutes of play, when Katherine Kooiman scored off of an assist from Cailey Terpstra. In the four shots that the Tigers attempted in the first half, Elianna Van Hulzen came up with four saves to maintain the lead for the Defenders through the first 45 minutes.
Dakota Wesleyan was able to create more shot attempts in the second half, but the Defenders kept them from scoring while adding a goal of their own. With 29:37 remaining in the game, Maddie Regnerus scored to give Dordt a 2-0 lead. The game remained even the rest of the way, as the Defenders were able to secure the lead for their second victory of the season.

COACH DURBIN SAID
"Tonight we put together a full 90 minutes and it showed. We were able to put two in the back of the net and held a clean sheet. Things were clicking offensively and defensively. It's great to get the first conference win and hopefully that builds confidence into the next few games."
The Defenders will play on the road against Presentation on Saturday, October 3 in the first of back-to-back games as visitors. The game will begin at 1:00 pm in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
