Midland def. Dordt 8-1
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender baseball team lost an 8-1 decision to the Midland Warriors in Great Plains Athletic Conference play on Friday afternoon in Fremont, Nebraska. The game was the first of a pair of doubleheaders for the teams in Nebraska this weekend.
Dordt’s run came in the first inning when Cam Pfafman doubled with two outs, advanced to third on an error and scored on a Logan Cline single.
Midland got the run back in the home half of the inning and Dordt threatened in the second inning with a pair of walks and a single with two outs but left the bases loaded in the frame.
The hosts took the lead on a homerun in the second inning and the led 3-1 after the fourth inning. The lead grew to 6-1 with a run in the fourth and another two in the fifth for the home team and the Warriors added three more in the sixth for the 8-1 final.
Dordt had four hits with Cline knocking a pair of singles.
Pfafman had Dordt’s lone extra base hit with his double and Tyce Marquez added a single.
Midland had seven hits and took advantage of five walks.
Dordt’s Logan Horne took the loss with four and two-third innings of work and he struck out one.
Midland’s Tyler Seebaum got the GPAC win with 11 strikeouts.
