Dordt def. Dakota State 6-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defender baseball team secured a 6-2 win over Dakota State on Monday night in Tucson, Arizona.
The Defenders got a run in the first inning when Alexander Chavez came in to score on a double steal.
Dakota State came back with a run in the bottom of the second inning on two hits and took advantage of a Dordt error for an unearned run.
Lucas Nelson singled in a run in the second inning to give Dordt the lead back and never trailed again. Logan Cline scored in the third inning on a fielder’s choice and Dordt took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the fourth inning for a 5-1 lead and the Defenders added another run in the sixth inning.
Dakota State did get a run back in the sixth inning but left the bases loaded to make the final 6-2.
Dordt had a 7-2 hits advantage and took advantage of six Dakota State errors.
Isaac Vander Hart was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts, two hits allowed and one earned run surrenders with two walks.
Logan Cline had a pair of singles, a base on balls and two stolen bases.
All of Dordt’s nine hits were singles.
Alexander Chavez scored two runs for the Defenders.
