HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt University hockey team suffered a 9-3 loss to Creighton on Saturday. The Defenders defeated Creighton 5-4 on Friday, but failed to keep the momentum going into the second game of the double header.
The Jays started the game with six unanswered goals. Chris Clament gave the Jays the 1-0 lead ten minutes into the first period. Isaac Lamppa made it 2-0 four minutes later. Owen Metric scored his first of the day with four minutes to go in the period. Matt Kocerek gave the Jays a 4-0 lead to end the first period.
Metric scored his second of the game late in the second period to give Creighton a 5-0 lead. Kocerek scored the sixth unanswered goal with two minutes to play in the second.
Rylan Brue finally found the back of the net a minute later to give Dordt their first goal. Brandon Chamberlin responded for the Jays with eight seconds left in the second to make it 7-1.
Chamberlin scored again six minutes into the third off of a Mason Carstons assist.
Dordt scored two unanswered with under five minutes to go in the third. Eli Visscher and Logan Visser both found the back of the net to make it 8-3.
Kubicek scored his second of the afternoon with a minute left to secure the 9-3 victory.
Bryce Andry had 23 saves in the loss.
Three different players scored for Dordt.
The loss dropped Dordt to 4-8.
Seven different players scored for Creighton.
Charlie Miller had 39 saves in the victory.
Creighton improved to 2-9-1 on the year.
Dordt will face off against Creighton again in Nebraska on December 6 and 7.
