HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt University hockey team dropped a 5-2 decision to Missouri State on Friday. The loss dropped Dordt to 3-5 overall.
Missouri State's Nathan Hendrix broke the deadlock eight minutes into the first period. He finished the Christopher Reda assist to make it 1-0. The Defenders failed to match the goal in the first period and went into the second trailing.
Christopher Reda made it 2-0 in favor of Missouri State six minutes into the second period.
It took Ted Cardinale only a minute in the third period to make it 3-0 Bears. Dordt's Eli Visscher found the back of the net 50 seconds later to pull the Defenders within two.
Missouri State responded with another goal four minutes later to make it 4-1. Cardinale scored with four minutes to play in the game put the Bears ahead 5-1.
Fred Bullock finished a Wilhelm Oppedyk assist with two minutes to play, but it wasn't enough and Missouri State earned the 5-2 victory.
Bryce Andry had 32 saves in the loss.
Visscher's goal was his seventh of the year.
