Northwest Iowa National Invitational
The Dordt University men's golf team finished day one of the first Northwest Iowa National Invitiational in 11th place out of 11 teams. The Defenders played 36 holes on day one and shot a combined score of 630.
The meet is being held at Willow Creek Golf Club in Le Mars, IA.
Ryan Feauto had a solid day and posted two rounds of 74. Dustin Widman shot 79 in round one and an 80 in the second round to take the number two position for Dordt. Jared Van Elburg posted a 76 in the first round and an 83 in round two to tie Widman with a 159. Freshman Freddy Bullock shot 80 and 84 to round out the top four. Blake Harmsen finished fifth with an 83 in round one and 88 in round two.
Texas Wesleyan is in first place after shooting 12 under over the two rounds. They combined for an overall score of 564 on day one.
Morningside isn't far behind after shooting seven under on the day. Ottawa University out of Arizona is in third after posting a combined two under. Grand View University is in the fourth position after shooting four over and Missouri Valley rounds out the top five with a score of six over par.
Morningside's Sam Storey is in first place after shooting nine under on day one.
The Defenders are 31 strokes behind 10th place Southwestern Christian University.
Day two will also take place at Willow Creek in Le Mars.
