Dordt def. Pacific Union 97-70
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders never trailed and scored a 97-70 win over Pacific Union in Angwin, California on Thursday night, December 19.
The Defenders got out to a 17-6 lead after a Dustin Marra basket and just kept pushing the lead further and led 54-28 at halftime. Marcus Winterfeld came off the bench to help ignite the Defenders with 14 first half points and Garrett Franken added 12. Chad Barkema scored 10 in the half with eight coming at the free throw line.
Dordt extended the lead to 64-34 in the second half almost immediately and converted 50 percent of its field goals in the second half for the 27 point win.
Garrett Franken scored 18 to pace Dordt and had nine rebounds with two assists.
Chad Barkema added 15 and had three rebounds and four assists.
Marcus Wintefeld came off the bench to score 16 with five rebounds and Cade Bleeker and Josh Van Lingen had 11 and 10 respectively.
Dordt converted 40-79 field goals and 5-18 three-point shots with 12-17 free throw shooting.
Pacific Union was 27-71 from the field and 4-20 from the arc and converted 12-17 free throws.
Dordt had a 44-26 rebounding edge and forced 13 turnovers while committing 11.
Dordt is 11-4 this season while Pacific Union is 2-7.
The Defenders will face UC-Merced on Saturday afternoon, December 21 at 6:00 pm (Central).
