Park def. Dordt 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16)


Dordt concluded play at the Park Classic in Parkville, Missouri with a 3-1 loss to the number one ranked and NAIA defending national champions Park Pirates late Saturday afternoon.

Dordt fell behind 20-11 in set one and was still behind 21-14 when the Defenders rallied with seven straight points. The run started with a  Jori Bronner and Jessi De Jager block and continued another six points with Emily Feilmeier holding serve.  It was a  De Jager and Karsyn Winterfeld block that tied it but the rally stopped there with a service error and Park scored three of the next four points to secure the shaky 25-22 win.

Park recovered to lead 15-12 in set two and then controlled the rest of the set in winning 25-19.  Dordt reversed fortunes in the third set when the Defenders led 11-10. An Ava Van Soelen kill put the Defenders up 12-10 and Dordt scored eight of the next 11 points to lead 20-13. The teams traded points and Park tried to fight back but trailed 23-19 and Dordt held on to win the set on a Corrina Timmermans kill for the 25-20 win.

Park controlled set four and won the final set 25-16.


Dordt had 46 kills in the match and a .105 kill efficiency.

The Defenders served for two aces and committed 10 errors.

Dordt had 16 points on blocks.

Park had 56 kills and a .153 kill efficiency with three service errors and the Pirates scored nine points on blocks.

Timmermans had 16 kills and five digs.

Jessi De Jager had ten kills and five block assists.

Ally Krommendyk recorded eight block assists and Karsyn Winterfeld had eight kills with 18 digs and was in on seven blocks. Winterfeld handled 32 serve receptions cleanly.

Megan Raszler and Emily Feilmeier each had 18 assists.   Hannah Connelly had a team high 23 assists for the Defenders.


“We had another strong blocking match against a great hitting team. Our streaks of play show some really exciting things are beginning to form in this early part of our season. This non-conference schedule has provided great moments of learning and  we now look forward to getting fully into our conference schedule.”


Park is now 8-1 while Dordt slips to 8-4.


Dordt will host Northwestern on Wednesday night, September 11 and will host Briar Cliff on Saturday, September 14.
